With Mother’s Day approaching, I thought it would be fun to show an outfit that would work equally well for the office and for celebrating Mother’s Day!
I’m typically not so into floral patterns, so I was a bit hesitant to try on this dress. But as I tell my clients when I am styling them, you should always try a garment on, rather than make a decision based on how it looks on the hanger.
So, I decided to take my own advice, and I am so happy I did, because as soon I put this dress on I immediately fell in love! I have seen this dress on a few people and it looks equally beautiful on both blondes and brunettes!
I chose to pair it with pumps because this is a work wardrobe column, but I also love wearing this dress with these sandals, which are a favorite of mine (make sure to size up half a size)!
What’s your philosophy when trying on clothes? Do you agree that you should never decide on an item until you try it on? Let me know in the comments below!

Love the colourful dress! Looks really good on you! :)
And nude pumps are awesome.. I can’t believe that they were considered a faux-pas in the 90’s and early 00’s.

Thanks so much Natassia!!! I choose to keep the pumps neutral since the dress has so much going on! I figured the two would perfectly balance one another out! xoxo yael

Thanks sweetie! I’m all about nude pumps! I wrote a blog post almost a year ago (yikes!) about how if I could only wear one pair of shoes it would be nude pumps, and one of the reasons was because it elongates your legs, just as you pointed out! xo yael
