One of the biggest fashion trends right now is the cape. However, the reason I decided to purchase a cape is because it fits my style.
Although the terms fashion and style are often used interchangeably they don’t have the same meaning. So today I thought I would explain the difference between the two.
Think of fashion as what is trendy right now. It’s what you see in the magazines, on the runway, and in stores. Style, on the other hand, is personal. Style reflects your own choices and personality. Whereas fashion is constantly changing, style is timeless.
One of my favorite quotes is “[f]ashion is what you’re offered four times a year. Style is what you pick out of that fashion . . . it’s what you make of it once you’ve learned what to accept and ignore based on what looks good on you.” Keep this quote in mind whenever you go shopping and remember to always let style be your guide.
I love following fashion and seeing what the latest trends are, but in my opinion it is always more important to be stylish than fashionable. Do you agree? Let me know in the comments below!
