For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been interested in skin care. I’m constantly researching products that are known to improve your skin. One product that came up again and again in the articles I read was retinol. In fact, retinol is the number 1 ingredient recommended by dermatologists. Retinol is known for visibly improving fine line and wrinkles; smoothing, brightening and firming skin; improving darks spots, and minimizing pores.
And yet, every time I went to buy a retinol product I changed my mind. Time and time again I read about women who experienced irritation from retinol, and to be honest, that potential side effect scared me more than the benefits. So, when Olay reached out about their new Retinol24 collection, specifically designed to provide the benefits of retinol without the negative side effect of irritation (96% of users did not experience irritation with the Retinol24 collection), I was obviously interested.
The Retinol24 collection was designed in three forms (a moisturizer, serum, and eye cream) to make it easier to integrate into your skin care routine. Since I already have a serum and eye cream that I love, I decided to integrate the moisturizer into my routine.
It’s been 4 weeks since I started using the Retinol24 moisturizer and here are my thoughts. First, as someone who is extremely sensitive to smell, I LOVE the fact that it is fragrance free. Second, the consistency of the moisturizer is perfect and doesn’t feel greasy when applying. Third, within 24 hours of using the Retinol24 moisturizer my skin already felt more hydrated (the formula includes vitamin B3, which is why the formula is so hydrating). Fourth, after using the moisturizer consistently my skin feels smoother and looks brighter!
Before I finish I wanted to share a few pointers in using / applying the Retinol24 moisturizer. If you’re new to retinol, like me, and feel skittish in trying it, start out using the Retinol24 moisturizer every other night. Also, a little goes a long way. You don’t need to slather on a ton of this product (it was formulated to optimize potency and skin penetration).
