In honor of the first Friday Favorite post of 2015, I wanted to discuss a favorite of mine that is especially important to me.
A few months back I had the opportunity to attend the Simply Stylist event in NY, a fashion and beauty blogger conference. At the event, Elissa Kravetz spoke to us about the Farley Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching kids kindness. Elissa told us her own story about being bullied as teenager.
Elissa’s story particularly resonated with me, because I too was bullied growing up. I was made fun of largely for my appearance, and the kids in my school were particularly cruel. Just as with Elissa, the effects of the bullying have had lasting effects even up until this day.

The bullying that goes on in today’s society is even worse as kids have access to social media, which only aggravates the problem. It is especially important, now more than ever, to try and teach kids the harmful effects of bullying and how to become more compassionate individuals.
In order to achieve this mission, Elissa and other Farley Project ambassadors (all of whom have had personal experience with, and have had their lives altered by, bullying) visit schools and share their personal story. Joining them are former bullies, parents of children who were bullied, etc., who also talk with the students. The hope is that through these stories and an open dialogue the students will learn the importance of compassion and ultimately choose kindness.
If you want to help contribute to the Farley Project you can donate here or you can purchase the Choose Kindness shirt, which I love and own!
Let’s start off this new year by making a difference and remember if you want to know what a favorite item of mine is, simply leave a comment below, send me a tweet, or leave me a comment on Instagram or Facebook!
