I have a lot of high waisted bottoms, but when I paired this scarf top with most of them I still felt exposed, and the overlook was a bit cheap (yikes)! The solution: pairing it with a high waisted midi skirt!
So why does this top work best with a high waisted midi skirt? First, because the volume of the skirt balances out the fitted top. When I paired the top with fitted high waist jeans the whole look felt a bit tacky and like I was trying too hard. The second reason the top works best with a midi skirt is because of the length of the skirt. When I paired the top with high waisted shorts, I had the same problem as when I tried jeans, even when I tried it with shorts that weren’t fitted. Because the top exposes so much skin, the bottom has to be more covered and demure!
I particularly love this midi skirt because of its versatility. Both the fabric and cream color with black pattern mean that I can easily wear it in the winter as well. I would pair it with a black turtleneck, black opaque tights and black ankle boots for a super chic look!
